When Mothers Have a Mothers Taste

I was trying to make this Blog appealing  to my readers eyes and I came across this specific background. I don't know if you had noticed but it is a style of patch work which integrates all different kinds of patterns and colors. I call it a Babies blanket, my mother calls it heaven on fabric..
I had to understand while I was growing up that my mom and I would rarely agree on anything, specially fashion or decoration style, as every season she would try to buy me a Patch Duvet for my room and I repeatedly had to turn her down. I have given her a hard time through the years, so in honor to her I gave my blog a patch work background. Your Welcome Mother!! :)

I'd Love to hear if any of your have had this same kind of issues with your parents or daughters/sons. I find that some of the funniest stories come out of normal and everyday events.

Hope to hear from you!

Life After Me

Hello Everyone!

My name is Cecilia - I'll be referring myself as The Long Gone Daughter - I am a college student in the US and for that to happen I had to move away from home. When I say away from home I don't mean a bus ride away from home, I mean a three course meal on an airplane away. I am the youngest of two daughters my very loving parents brought into this world. It may seem that I am here to talk about myself and my life struggles, but I am not. If you took time to read the name of this blog you may have noticed it is called THEIR changing lives. They, are my parents, I am here to share with all of you specific changes I've seen in my parents that might be actually happening to a lot of other empty nesters.
I always thought the moment I stepped out the door my parents would sit by it, stare at it and wait till I got back, specially as I was the last daughter still living at home. BOY WAS I WRONG! I now call my house and no one picks up - I call their cell phones and when they are answered I generally get the comment - Oh Hi honey!! We are out with some friends we'll call you when we get back home! I am happily surprised  about the fact that they have much more of a social life than I do, Trust me! I don't want depressed parents! But my issue comes when my mother calls me to ask if she can throw away all my precious belongings because my room is under "redecoration". Apparently the room  where I grew up is now too childish for their international friends to stay in! The butterflies in the ceiling are not longer as charming as they once were, neither are all the stuffed animals stacked through it. So CLEARLY they have to go.

I have come to accept that my house is no longer my house, but it is their house. Change is happening and there is nothing I can do about it. So I have decided to create a blog about it. I have agreed to help my mom with the redecoration and coming up with ideas on how to make what was once my house become their dream home. . I'll be sharing with all of you the entire process, our stories and the challenges on the way. Don't worry I wont leave out their outrageous daily comments.

I hope you all enjoy it and stay tuned for what is to come! :)
